The majority of web-savvy Internet users will have used a hosting company. Whether that company provided website hosting, dedicated servers or virtual servers. Many people have good experience and also very poor ones. In fact many high street stores could learn a thing or two from web hosting companies who provide true 24/7 support at incredibly low prices. Although some of these companies can also be terrible at best.
When writing web hosting reviews you need to remain fair. By being in a bad with a company you normally fail to see the good points about a company rather than just the bad points and so loose focus. Even if you aren’t angry, do try and think of what the hosting company has done right. The old belief that customers only ever say to people about all the bad companies and not the good ones and unfortunately is still true. So if one of these hosting companies have been good with you, then you should give them the credit due. Any company you review will have directors and staff who will work very hard and will see the effects of poor reviews. You should only write bad hosting reviews if its truly just.
Keep your review balanced and consistent They say a true test of how good a company is how they look after their customers when something goes wrong. Customers can be too quick to shout when their website goes offline. What they perhaps don’t consider is on a £5 a month shared web hosting package, it is near impossible to have 100% up time. Datacentres can go offline, and then of course there are the internet pixies! So when things do go wrong, think how your provider coped. Did they keep you up to date and communicate with you well. When the problem was fixed, did they specify how they would avoid the problem in future?
Think long and hard about whether you are getting value for money. Most web hosting packages cost less than a pint of lager, so think how far that value goes! It may be unfair to post a bad review about a provider if they do respond to problems in the early hours. It’s a good review you probably should be writing. Of course if you are paying hundreds of pounds per month for a managed dedicated server for business and you can’t get hold of your web host out of hours, that provider may warrant bad feedback.
Where can I find somewhere to write my review? Many hosting companies will have their own reviews forums where you can post and offer your experience. There are also dedicated forums for hosting reviews. You might be wary of posting on actual provider’s forums as depending on the provider they can sometimes delete the hosting review .
