I think every business knows, Social Media is changing the way we market our businesses. We went from newspaper ads, Television, Radio and all the other forms of traditional advertising to Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter and like 300 other social media platforms. There are so many social media sites I can’t keep up.
Facebook will be the focus of the article today. Facebook is one of the best social media outlets to market your business. I’m sure many of you who are reading this have a Facebook Fanpage for your business or for yourselves, I’ll also bet many of you started your fan page thinking all of your friends and customers would all become fans to help you spread the word about your company. You end up with 40 fans and knowone knows it exists and then you stop posting on the page! Let me explain how I’ve been able to build fan pages from 50 all the way up to 6800 fans and growing.
When most people create a fan page they think they are suppose to use it like they did a newspaper ad. What most people don’t realize is people on social media sites are sick of advertising; they are there to connect with their friends. So why would they want to see your ad on there news feed? Thats right, they would rather not and quite frankly you probably don’t either. You’re probably asking, then what are you suppose to post on your news feed? Take a look at how i’ve built my fan base so you can see for your industry.
I use this tool for several businesses, the first one i’ll explain is my largest one. One fan page I have is for a traveel business it is called Vacationing More and I have a Whopping 6800 fans, Instead of just posting vacation deals I post pictures of vacation destinations and polls. this gets people interacting with the site and then other people see that and add the fan page. When this happens people interact with your page and that is what will drive traffic to your site. When someone comments on your page it goes in their news feed for everyone of their friends to see, when this happens your going to grow? It posts on all their friends news feed for them to see, so now I’m marketing to all those new people. Because of this new people become fans of my pages.
My next biggest fan page is for Jersey’s Bar and Grill, my Restaurant / Bar. One of the cool things I do on this page is we take a lot of pictures at Jersey’s, we then watermark the photos with our logo. What ends up happening is people start tagging themselves in the photos and it becomes free advertising for us. We also use a lot of videos on this page, people Love videos. Youtube is a great platform for your videos because you can see how manyu times the video has been watched. Making your page fun and interactive is the best way to generate fans, we post specials also but we try not to burn out the fans.
The last page I’m going to talk about is my newest page, I’m a Professional Network Marketer so I created a Network Marketing fan page. I have around 850 fans in the last 3 months and I hardly promoted the site besides posting quality material. I try to post a few times a day, I also keep it relevant to what they want to here. I don’t promote my primary opportunity on this page but I do let other people promote their opportunity.
There is advertising through facebook on the right hand side bar. This will get your page a jumpstart to build some fans. If you spam facebook fans with things they dont want you will never succeed with this tool.
