Smartphone Software Advances with iPhone Release
When Apple made its introduction of the revolutionary Apple iPhone
into the smart phone market, the announcement was accompanied by a
great amount of speculation and excitement over how the newest
technology offering from Apple would impact the future of SmartPhone
software.
There is no doubt that Apple is not only extremely skilled at
bringing innovations to consumers, but they are also highly adept at
creating marketing storms and media buzz that has people panting for
more information and fighting to get their hands on the latest and
greatest gadgets created through their wizardry.
Many industry insiders have proclaimed that SmartPhone software will
be forever changed since the long awaited Apple iPhone was released
at last earlier this year in June, coming after months of
anticipation and after the announcement of the new device in
January.
The day the Apple iPhone finally went on sale, on June 29, 2007,
almost every single available handset was sold within hours, leaving
the retail stores of AT&T and Apple with bare shelves until more
iPhones could be shipped. Many are saying that it is too soon to
know for sure if the iPhone is going to be the mega-hit in the long
as so many have predicted. But, it is virtually certain that the
future of SmartPhone software has changed with some of the new
features and advancements that were integrated into smart phones
with the introduction of the iPhone.
The Apple iPhone does indeed possess the potential to forever morph
the mobile communications industry, most especially in the future
design and implementation of SmartPhone software, as it will be
found in other models of phones down the line.
And, while many of the Apple iPhone features are considered "cool",
such as the touch screen, spectacular graphics, gesture recognition
and change-on-the-fly screen orientation, the real power behind such
trademark components of the iPhone is the operating system it is
built upon, which is a lighter version of the powerful Apple Mac OSX
system. This means that the iPhone effortlessly integrates with
other popular Apple products, such as Mac computers and iPods, Apple
software and services, such as iTunes for Macs and PCs, and the
iTunes website where people can purchase and download music, audio
books, videos, movies and even television shows, not to mention tens
of thousands of free podcasts.
This aspect also allows for the iPhone's SmartPhone software to be
updated regularly, seamlessly and practically in the background with
very little intervention by the user of the device. While it is not
unusual for the software for smart phones to be able to be updated,
the ease of the process is unique to Apple's approach.
It is already abundantly clear that the Apple iPhone has the
potential to be a device that will shake-up the hand-held
communications industry, not only due to the features it has already
introduced, but also because of the ability to constantly bring new
features to the market.
As with any of the smart phones on the market, the Apple iPhone will
doubtlessly continue to have an increasing number of additional
services and products that will be offered as they are developed and
as that happens, the SmartPhone software platform it uses will
powerfully evolve too.
