Who Doesn’t Love IKEA Desks and Tables?

Within the world of style and fashion you can find IKEA. Their progressive designs have been extremely popular world-wide for several decades because of their Scandinavian styling that always results in more trendy, chic furniture. While you can find great chairs, couches, beds, and even kitchen sinks at this unique home and office furniture store, people often rave about their inexpensively sleek desks and tables. So to give you an idea of what they have to offer, we’re going to look at some IKEA desks and tables. Let’s get started!

About IKEA

I want to begin by giving you a little background into the company and why they create the unique designs that they do. IKEA began in the 1940s with a man named Ingvar Kamprad who started off by selling small items to people in his home country of Sweden. By the next decade, he was able to expand his business to include furniture and history was made. It wasn’t until the 1960s, however, that he was able to expand to other countries, but when he did, he found that many loved his nontraditional looks in furniture, which made his company popular enough to expand to the now over 260 stores in 35 countries.

One reason the company’s designs are so popular is that they maintain a sleek and stylish Scandinavian look. But even more, many of the stores are furnishing the styles of their own country while trading looks across the oceans (i.e. sending European styles to the United States). Customers are in love with the trendy furniture, but are even more in love with the prices tags attached; many items are considerably less expensive than those of the competitors. And this keeps their customers faithfully coming back for more.

IKEA is able to reduce their prices significantly for a number of reasons; one being that they create their furniture with the idea that the price should be inexpensive for the customer – this does not mean that they eliminate any sense of style however. They simply find creative ways to stylishly design their products with economical raw materials that can be easily packed flat (or in other unique ways) to lower the cost of shipping. They also create items like their IKEA desks so that their customers will be able to assemble them easily when they get them home – the lack of needed manpower means the lack of increased prices.

All of these reasons contribute to the popularity of IKEA desks, tables and other furniture. So now let’s explore these ever-popular items in greater detail, shall we?

Dining Tables

We’ll start by looking at their popular dining tables. As you know, it is important to create a dining table that can stand as the centerpiece of your dining room. Some companies definitely do not reflect this idea; however, IKEA is not one of those companies. They have a surplus of gorgeous tables available in an array of styles and colors – whatever you need to fill your specific dining area.

One extraordinary table that stands out from the others is the Leksvik Gateleg Table. It is a table with drop leaves and can seat up to eight people depending on what you decide to do with the two drop leaves. It is made of solid wood and other hardwearing natural materials. When stretched out to full capacity it reaches a length of close to 7.5 feet and stands almost 3 feet above the ground. Cleaning is easy with this beautiful table, as you can wipe it with a damp cloth to fulfill the requirement. And because it is a part of the Leksvik collection, you can easily find furniture pieces to make it.

IKEA Desks and Computer Workstations

It’s hard to find a person within a one block radius who does not own a computer, which means that there is a greater need for computer desks – and more stylish ones at that! Of course, by browsing through the selection of IKEA desks available, you are sure to find what you’re looking for.

One particular desk that caught my eye was the Gustav Desk with Shelving Unit. It has a more traditional look with small locking compartments placed on either side of the desk for storage purposes. This desk works great for those carrying a laptop or wanting space to complete written projects. It comes in two striking colors, beech-veneer and black-brown, both of which you can view on IKEA.com.

In addition to beautiful IKEA desks, you can find stylish and highly functional computer workstations. The workstations are great for those who work from a desktop and have additional components – including a printer or scanner – that they need to keep close to their computer.

A great workstation choice for those who love trend-setting styles throughout their homes is the Michael Corner Workstation. Available in a black/brown/white combo or birch effect/white combo, you can have a great looking zone for working or playing on the computer. This curve-shaped workstation has two shelving units on either side with the middle section working as the centerpiece – ideal for your computer to sit with a space underneath for your chair. It comes with metal binders for your magazines or documents and a complimentary magnetic white board – good choice!

IKEA Desks and Table Series

For those who are not sure what desk or table will fit their room, IKEA offers desk and table series options to help you better organize your space in themes. Of course, this is an optional alternative to simply picking items out yourself, but whichever route you choose, you are guaranteed to have made a stylish improvement in your work or dining space.

IKEA desks and tables are of course just the beginning of the great options you can find from this magnificent store. If you keep searching, you will keep finding make the furnishing possibilities for your home endless. Just remember, when you get your fantastic IKEA desks and tables and fill up your home with an exciting new style and flare at a great price, don’t forget pass the word on to the next person – they’ll love you for it!
