What’s Exciting about IKEA Orlando?
There are stores, and then there are
superstores. Superstores give you options beyond those of a regular
store; meaning, you can find all that you need and then some. IKEA
believes in the idea of being a superstore, which is why they go
above and beyond the call of duty when providing quality furnishings
for your home. However, within the IKEA network is a store that goes
above and beyond the call of their duty to provide what we can call
“the superstore of superstores.” This location is located in Florida
and is known as IKEA Orlando. Are you ready to learn why this store
has earned such an impressive reputation? Let’s find out!
IKEA is known as a standout in the furniture
world because of its ability to provide products at a very low cost
to customers. They have an innovative theory of letting the customer
assemble his or her own furniture; this way, items can be shipped in
a flat-packed format. This form of packing makes shipping easier and
cheaper, which is a bonus to both the manufacturer and the customer.
And it is for this reason that IKEA has become very popular with
customers all over the world.
IKEA History
This now famous company had humble beginnings;
it started as the brainchild of Ingvar Kamprad who grew up on a farm
called Elmtaryd in the village of Agunnaryd in Sweden (he used the
initials of his name, the farm, and the village to created what
would be known as his company). When he first started the company,
he was selling watches, picture frames, nylon stockings, jewelry,
and table runners, among a few other items, to make a living.
However, in a little over a decade, the company
grew, and by 1955 he began manufacturing and selling home and office
furnishings to his customers. Now his company has grown out of
Sweden and spans 35 countries with over 250 stores (over 30 of them
residing in the United States). With the expansion of his company to
new places has sparked growth within, and now many stores include
even more than the extensive variety of furniture available. One of
these stores is the newly opened IKEA Orlando in Florida. Because it
is one of the newer stores, it brought out all of the bells and
whistles; and it is making customers want to visit IKEA for more
than just the furniture.
IKEA Orlando
IKEA Orlando is the 33rd store to open its
doors in the United States since the first store opened in this
country in 1985. Having its grand opening in 2007, it is still wet
behind the ears, but that didn’t hold it back from being an
impressive addition to the brand – but I guess it had to be a
showstopper to help uphold the United States’ status as the 2nd best
selling IKEA country in the world.
IKEA Orlando boasts a lot of services for their
new store, including rental vans, food services, a child’s play
area, a furnishing consultant, and assembly services. Let’s explore
these services a little more, shall we?
Their rental van service is available to
customers who would like to pick up their items from the store for
self-assembly. Instead of having to rent a U-Haul truck with its
huge deposit and mileage rates, you can rent a van from this
location immediately after purchasing your items. They are available
at the customer service counter on the lower level of the store and
the rates are impressive, at just $32 for the first two hours. This
gives you a way to purchase as much as you need without the worry of
how to get it all home.
They have also provided food services – a
restaurant and bistro – to prevent shoppers from browsing on an
empty stomach. In the restaurant you can find Swedish and American
cuisine items for reasonable prices. They even have a kid’s menu to
appease your little ones who were forced to accompany you on the
extruciating shopping journey. The Bistro is more for those who are
interested in a quick bite. There you can find 50-cent hot dogs and
warm cinnamon buns at cheap prices. Not bad!
If you find that your children are becoming
restless after the 3rd hour you’ve spent in the store, both you and
them will be happy to know that there is a supervised play area for
your children call “Småland.” As long as your child meets the height
requirement, you can drop your kids off and have a ball shopping. If
they don’t meet the height requirement, then you can still let them
take a break from shopping and play in the smaller,
parent-supervised play area.
While shopping, it is possible that you’ll
become overwhelmed by the selection and suddenly feel that you need
the advice of an expert. While this would seem a little “Hollywood”
to the average store, IKEA Orlando felt the need to bring the star
treatment to you. At no cost to customers, they provide a Furnishing
Consultant who can give you free tips and ideas for decorating your
home. Whether you’re looking for help in decorating one room or an
entire office, their consultants can help you out. The only
prerequisite is that you schedule an appointment before you arrive;
that way you will be guaranteed to have one available for you.
Also, if you want to help someone put the
furniture together for you when you get it home, IKEA Orlando has
access to great contractors in the Orlando area that can assemble
your furniture for you. Of course, this service is not free, so you
will need to check with an associate for rates and details.
But the most important factor that draws people
to these stores is the furniture, right? And IKEA Orlando has plenty
of it. The store is midrange in size in comparison to the other
stores in the country, but it still has a great selection of items
to choose from. By searching their online catalog or ordering a
paper one to actually sit on a table in front of you, you will have
a chance to look at their massive selection before you set foot in a
store. Who can resist such options? I’m sure you can’t, so Get
Ready, Get Set, and Go to the brand new IKEA Orlando store. You will
definitely not regret making such a wise choice.
