IKEA Fans – Are You One?

There are millions of people out there who are dedicated to one of the largest home and office furniture retailers in the world: IKEA. By why are they so dedicated? Could it be the stunningly trendy designs they have to offer? Or could it be the great price tags they place on those trendy designs? Only those dedicated customers can tell you why they feel the way they feel. And now you can read their testimonies. If you are one of the many IKEA fans of the world, or are simply interested in learning more about why the retailer is so popular straight from the customers’ mouths, you will want to visit IKEAfans.com to learn it all!

Why IKEA?

Some people might wonder why customers would create a website specifically for a furniture store. The people asking the question are probably those who have never visited the store. If you’ve ever been to an IKEA store then you’ll know it is much more than a furniture store – it is an experience. Depending on which one you visit, you may be experiencing up to 330,000 square feet of furniture – and more furniture. They set up their furniture into great model sets so that you can get plenty of ideas for styling your home. And with up to 10,000 products to choose from, you can’t help but to become fully engaged in the process.

But it doesn’t end there! Some stores include free furniture consultations with experts in the field; all you have to do is set up an appointment and get all the help you need. Other stores give you access to rental vans for considerably less than U-haul if you become so overwhelmed by the options that you now need help getting it all home. If you get hungry while shopping, you can visit their full-service, in-house restaurant filled with delicious Swedish and American choices, or you can visit their bistro for a quick hot dog or dessert. Many locations even have a Swedish Food Market to give you great treats to take home with you. And if you want to give your children a break from the hours you plan to browse the store, many locations offer a supervised children’s playland for them.

These are just a few of the reasons that IKEA fans are sprouting up left and right. But now I would like to know more about why they’ve decided to create their own site.

The IKEA Fans Website

The IKEA fans website is filled with tons of information for enthusiasts, including forums, blogs, articles, guides and even an “IKEApedia” – very interesting. I decided to dive right in to see what life is like in the world of these dedicated customers.

Forums – In looking through their forums, I found that members post the newly released information on the retailer. Some follow what is found in stores and others track information around the virtual world to see what is new and current with the furniture chain (for example, I found one post that revealed that the retailer is now showing video clips on YouTube). In addition, people are posting when they see one of the stores in a guest appearance on television. The members have organized the forums into categories that touch on home planning and designing, ordering and purchasing, and even the steps taken to assemble products. It appears that the forums provide a great resource to IKEA fans and curious onlookers alike.

Blogs – The blogs found on the site appear to be run by bloggers who have extra information to share about the retailer rather than being one of the people asking questions. In browsing through the blog entries, I found information on different products that are beginning to arrive in stores, freebie items as well as coupons and great deals, and tales of people trying to assemble and install their items at home. It seems that the blog page would be a great place to gather information from seasoned IKEA veterans as it would help you make informed decisions before purchasing certain products.

Articles – In the articles section, members create informative pieces, FAQs, Tutorials and much more on different topics like assembly, products, installation, remodeling, and renovations. In addition, members create photo documentaries, before and after pictures of their assembly and installation projects, and a glossary of abbreviations, acronyms, other words that non IKEA fans might be oblivious to – unfortunately, this section is private.

Guides – After you become a member of the site (membership is free, by the way) you get access to their free guides, which help you better navigate through the site, learn how to set up a member profile, find important information, and even brush up on your IKEA Fans website etiquette. You will also have access to guides that will help you post and reply in forum threads and communicate with moderators and community members when you need and want to. Not a bad welcome gift!

IKEApedia – This tool is actually a second forum set up specifically to assist those who want to know everything about the retailer. It has a store directory with all information about every store you can think of, a products listing to help you better organize your search for items according to room and function, instruction manuals and installers available to help you assemble and install your products, and brochures that will give you more information on the thousands of items the store has to offer.

Overall, the IKEA Fans website seems to be more than just a great place for enthusiasts to come together and gush over their exciting day at their local store. The site is filled with great information that is very resourceful for a loyal customer or first-timer. By browsing the site, you can learn a lot about what makes the company tick and why you will benefit from shopping there. And as an IKEA Fans member, it seems that you get to go one step further by participating in what is, essentially, a very positive website dedicated to a great company.
